About Arrow Out
Arrow Out is a puzzle about getting out of the way. The board is packed with arrows, one to three squares long, each pointing up, down, left or right. Tap an arrow and it slides straight off the board the way it points — but only if the squares ahead of it are clear. If another arrow is in its path, it bumps into it and stays put, and the bump costs you five seconds.
So the puzzle is the order: find the arrows that are free now, and see which ones they set free. Every board can be cleared completely — we build them backwards, from the last arrow out — and there is usually more than one way. A round is three boards, six, seven and eight squares across. Your time for all three, plus any bumps, goes on the weekly leaderboard, which resets every Monday at 00:00 UTC.
How to play
- Press Start. The first board fills with arrows, and the clock starts.
- Tap any part of an arrow. If nothing is in front of it, it slides off the board.
- If something is in the way, the arrow bumps and stays. Each bump adds five seconds to your time.
- Clear every arrow to move on to the next, bigger board.
- Clear all three boards to finish. Sign in to put your time on the weekly board.
Tips
- Start at the edges: arrows pointing straight out of the board are almost always free.
- Before tapping, follow the arrow’s line to the edge with your eye — one glance saves a five-second bump.
- Clearing one arrow often frees a whole row behind it. Look for the arrow everyone else is waiting on.
- Long arrows block more. Getting them out early opens up the board.
- Speed comes from not bumping: a steady pace beats frantic tapping.
Questions players ask
Can every board be cleared?
Yes. Each board is built backwards: every arrow is laid only where its way out is clear of the arrows that leave after it. Taking them in the reverse order always works, and usually many other orders do too.
How is my time measured?
By our server, from the moment the round is dealt until it receives your last tap, plus five seconds for every bump. The server plays your taps again on the same boards to count the bumps itself.
When does the leaderboard reset?
Every Monday at 00:00 UTC. The final standings are kept: the top three of each week receive an honour on their profile, and your best time never resets.
Do I need an account to play?
No. Press Start and you play straight away under a guest name. Sign in with an account you already have to put your time on the weekly leaderboard.
