About Block Quarry

Block Quarry is a calm puzzle with a sharp edge. You get three stone pieces at a time — bars, squares, corners and zigzags — and drag each one into an 8×8 quarry wherever it fits. Fill a whole row or a whole column and it breaks apart, making room and scoring points. Pieces never turn, so the trick is keeping a space for whatever comes next.

Breaking several lines with one piece scores far more than one at a time, and breaking lines on placements close together builds a combo that multiplies every break. When none of the pieces in your hand fits anywhere, the game is over. There is no clock — take as long as you like over each piece. Your score is checked by our server, move by move. The leaderboard is weekly: it resets every Monday at 00:00 UTC.

How to play

  1. Press Start. Three pieces wait under the quarry.
  2. Drag a piece onto the quarry and let go where it fits. The squares it would fill are shown as you drag. You can also tap a piece, then tap a square for its top-left corner.
  3. Fill a row or a column and it breaks. Every stone you lay scores 1; every broken line 10 or more.
  4. Break lines again within three pieces to grow your combo: each break is multiplied by it.
  5. When all three pieces are down, three more arrive. The game ends when none of your pieces fits.
  6. Sign in to put your score on the weekly board.

Tips

  • Keep the middle open. Pieces fit far more easily in a clear centre than in scattered gaps.
  • Leave room for a 3×3 square and a five-long bar — they are the hardest pieces to place late in a game.
  • Two lines at once score three times one line; three at once score six times. Building towards a double is worth a little risk.
  • A combo lasts three placements. Use small pieces to keep it alive while you set up the next break.
  • Before placing the first piece of a hand, check where all three can go — the order matters.

Questions players ask

How is the score worked out?

One point for every stone laid. Breaking lines scores 10 for one, 30 for two at once, 60 for three and so on, multiplied by your combo. The combo grows by one every time a piece breaks lines, and runs out after three pieces in a row that break nothing.

How do you know a score is real?

The game sends us where you put each piece. Our server deals the same pieces from the same start, plays your placements again and counts the score itself.

When does the leaderboard reset?

Every Monday at 00:00 UTC. The final standings are kept: the top three of each week receive an honour on their profile, and your best never resets.

Do I need an account to play?

No. Press Start and you play straight away under a guest name. Sign in with an account you already have to put your score on the weekly leaderboard.
