About Open Quiz
Twenty questions, two answers each, twenty seconds a question: trivia and grammar against the clock, with a streak that multiplies your points.
Open Quiz is a quick-fire quiz with two answers to every question. A round is twenty questions from the category you pick: general knowledge, geography, food, science, numbers, football, English grammar or German grammar, or Mixed, which draws from all of them but German. Each question has a twenty-second bar, and there are nearly twelve thousand questions to come up.
A right answer inside ten seconds is worth 20 points, and inside twenty seconds 10. Every five right answers in a row raise your multiplier, up to five times the points; a wrong answer or a timeout costs 5 points and starts the streak again. Points add up: the monthly leaderboard ranks everything you scored that month, and your all-time total keeps growing from one month to the next.
How to play
- Pick a category, or Mixed, and press Start.
- Read the question and tap one of the two answers before the bar runs out.
- Answer inside ten seconds for full points. Every five right answers in a row raise your multiplier, up to ×5.
- A wrong answer or a timeout costs 5 points and resets the streak. After twenty questions the round is over.
- Every round adds its points to your month on the leaderboard. Sign in to keep them.
Tips
- Speed matters twice: a quick right answer is worth double, and it keeps your streak going towards the next multiplier.
- A wrong answer costs only 5 points but resets the streak, so on a hard question a careful guess can still be worth it.
- The grammar categories are long questions: read the whole sentence before you choose.
- With two answers, ruling one out is as good as knowing the other.
- Flags often differ in one detail: look at the emblem or the order of the stripes.
Questions players ask
How does the leaderboard work?
It adds up the points of every round you finish in the month and ranks the totals. It resets on the 1st of every month at 00:00 UTC; the final standings are kept, the top three receive an honour on their profile, and your all-time total carries on.
Why only ten rounds an hour?
Because points add up, a limit keeps the board about knowing the answers rather than playing longest. Ten rounds is two hundred questions an hour.
What if I think a question is wrong?
Press “Report this question” after you answer it. Reported questions are checked and corrected or removed.
Do questions repeat?
Not within a round, and the questions of your last few rounds are kept back while there are others to ask.
Do I need an account to play?
No. Press Start and you play straight away under a guest name. Sign in with an account you already have to put your points on the monthly leaderboard.
