About Comet Dash

Comet Dash is a quick arcade game for one hand or two thumbs. Your little ship hovers at the foot of the screen while meteors and stars fall towards it. Slide left and right to catch the stars and keep clear of the rocks — or charge them: a dash throws the ship sideways in a burst no meteor can hurt, and every rock you meet on the way shatters for bonus points.

Stars caught in a row build a multiplier, up to five times, and a star that slips past resets it. A dash has to recharge before the next, and now and then a shield orb drifts down that takes one hit for you. You have one life. Every fifteen seconds the storm grows thicker and faster, so a good run is as much about calm as speed. The leaderboard is weekly: it resets every Monday at 00:00 UTC.

How to play

1. Press Start. Your ship sits at the bottom of the screen.
2. Move with the arrow keys or A and D. On a phone, touch and hold the left or right half of the screen.
3. Dash with Space (or W or the up arrow). On a phone, press the « or » button half-way down the screen to dash that way. While dashing you cannot be hurt, and meteors you touch shatter.
4. The bar under the score fills while your dash recharges. Catch the blue shield orb to survive one hit.
5. Stars score 10 points times your multiplier, a shattered meteor 25, and every second you survive 1.
6. One hit without a shield ends the run. Sign in to put your score on the weekly board.

Tips

• Stay near the middle: from there both walls are in reach of one dash.
• Keep your dash for emergencies early on. Later, when meteors come in walls, dashing through is the only way out.
• A multiplier of ×5 is worth more than a few smashed rocks — don’t throw it away chasing a meteor.
• Meteors bounce off the sides. Watch the ones drifting towards a wall: they come back.
• The shield is worth a detour, but not a risky one.
