About Rex Tower
Rex Tower is a one-tap game about timing. A stone slab slides back and forth above the tower; tap to drop it. Whatever hangs over the edge of the slab below breaks off and tumbles away, so every sloppy drop leaves a narrower slab for the next — and a slab that misses the tower altogether ends the game. Rex, the studio’s T-Rex, stands on top and hops up onto every slab you place.
Land a slab almost exactly on the one below and it is a perfect: nothing breaks off, and you score a bonus that grows with every perfect in a row. From the third in a row the slabs start to grow back. The slab slides faster as the tower rises, and the sky changes on the way up, from midday to sunset, dusk and a sky full of stars. The leaderboard is weekly: it resets every Monday at 00:00 UTC.
How to play
- Press Build! A slab starts sliding above the tower.
- Tap anywhere on the game, or press Space, to drop it.
- The part that hangs over the edge breaks off. If the slab misses the tower completely, the game is over.
- Each floor scores 1. A perfect drop scores 1 more for each perfect in a row, up to 5 more.
- From the third perfect in a row, each perfect widens the slab again, up to the width of the base.
- The slab speeds up as the tower grows. Sign in to put your score on the weekly board.
Tips
- Watch the edge of the slab, not its middle: tap as its edge lines up with the edge below.
- A run of perfects is worth far more than height alone, and it is the only way to win width back.
- After a bad drop, slow down. A narrow tower forgives less, but the slab is no faster for it.
- The slab starts from a different place every time — wait for it to come round rather than tapping on rhythm.
- Tap on the way in, while the slab is heading towards the tower: it is easier to judge than on the way out.
Questions players ask
When does the leaderboard reset?
Every Monday at 00:00 UTC. The final standings are kept: the top three of each week receive an honour on their profile, and your best score never resets.
How exact does a perfect have to be?
Within four pixels of the slab below, measured on the game’s own field, whatever the size of your screen.
How do you know a score is real?
The game sends us the moments you tapped, not just the score. Our server builds the tower again from the same start and counts the score itself, so a score can only be earned by playing.
Do I need an account to play?
No. Press Build! and you play straight away under a guest name. Sign in with an account you already have to put your score on the weekly leaderboard.
